make windows shut down faster

Windows 8 and 10 usually shut down really quickly. Unless there’s something wrong with your configuration and something is preventing your Windows from closing correctly. Here are some simple tips that will help your PC shut down faster.

Check Your WaitToKillServiceTimeout Value

When you are shutting down your computer, Windows doesn’t close everything at once, but rather sends all open apps and running services a signal that it’s going to shut down. It then waits a short while (up to 5 seconds by default), giving the apps and services time to close properly. When that time expires, Windows force-closes unresponsive applications and shuts down. Most of the time Windows Update works as it should. It automatically installs updates in the background and asks you for an occasional reboot. Delete browser cookies

Visit any website and you’ll get a notification that the website uses cookies. But what exactly are those cookies and how do you delete them from your browser? Read on to find out.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are tiny files a website puts on your computer to store bits of information. For example, a cookie remembers your location choice, keeps you logged in, etc. That’s fine, right? How to Save Images from Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Wednesday, April 6th, 2016

save images from ms office filesHave you ever tried to figure out how to save an image from a Word document someone sent to you? It’s easier than you think even if it doesn’t look that at first. All you need to do is right-click on the picture and select “Save as picture…”, then save the image whenever you want to. But what if you have a document with lots of images that you want to extract in bulk? This simple trick will help.

To extract images from a Microsoft Office document (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx), you need to have Windows built-in extractor for .zip files or any other app that extracts .zip. The do the following:

  1. Open Windows Explorer (or File Explorer on newer Windows version) and find the file you want to extract the images from
  2. Select the file and press F2 to change the file extension to .zip, then press Enter. You will get a warning from Windows where you should click on “Yes” to proceed
  3. Now your MS Office file is an ordinary .zip file. Right-click on it and select “Extract All” to extract the content
  4. Choose the destination folder for the extracted content, otherwise a new folder with the same name as the file name will be created in the folder where the original file is located.
  5. To view the extracted files, go to the destination folder and open the subfolder called either “word” for Word documents, “xl” for spreadsheets and “ppt” for PowerPoint documents
  6. Double-click on the “media” folder and you’ll find all the images from the file there
