D3DRM.dll Errors Fix

D3DRM.dll is used by the “Direct Draw” application, and is used as a component of DirectX. This file is specifically used to incorporate an enhanced set of “3D” features for your PC, and is used widely in games, and other advanced graphical programs. If you’re seeing problems with D3DRM.dll, it suggests that your PC either has some problems with the various important files that it needs to run DirectX, or simply cannot process this particular file on your system.

What Causes D3DRM.dll Errors?

This error will be caused by these problems:

  • D3DRM.dll will be missing on your PC
  • D3DRM.dll will be outdated / have errors
  • DirectX will not be installed correctly
  • Your PC will have some registry errors

How To Fix D3DRM.dll Errors

Step 1 – Re-Install Any Software Causing Errors

The first step is to re-install any programs that will be showing the d3drm.dll errors. It’s often the case that games will be unable to process this file correctly, and thus show the errors you’re experiencing. To fix this, you can follow these steps:

  • Click onto “Start
  • Locate “Control Panel” & click it
  • Click onto “Add / Remove Programs” (Win XP) or “Uninstall A Program” (Win 7)
  • Click onto the game that’s causing problems
  • Click “Remove
  • Follow the Uninstall Process
  • Restart Your PC
  • Re-Install The Program

This will remove the problematic application from your system, and will make sure that your computer is able to properly process the files that it will need to run. We’ve found that this will work for about 80% of systems with the D3DRM.dll error

Step 2 – Manually Replace D3DRM.dll

Manually replacing the d3drm.dll file is probably be the best way to repair the error.  You need to obtain a fresh copy of the dll file and register it onto your Windows system.  Follow these steps to resolve the error:

  1. Download d3drm.dll from the Internet
  2. Save the d3drm.dll file onto your computer’s hard drive
  3. Browse to c:\Windows\System32
  4. Locate the current d3drm.dll on your system
  5. Rename the current d3drm.dll to d3drmBACKUP.dll
  6. Copy & paste the new d3drm.dll into C:\Windows\System32
  7. Click Start > Run (Or search ”run” on Vista & Win7)
  8. Type “cmd” in the box that appears
  9. Type “regsvr32 d3drm.dll” on the black screen
  10. Press Enter

Step 3 – Clean Out Your PC With A Registry Cleaner

It’s also recommended that you clean out your PC with a “registry cleaner”. This is a type of software that’s been created to help fix the various problems with the settings of Windows. This is a very important step to fixing the D3DRM.dll error, as many of DirectX’s most important files are stored inside the “registry” of your PC. The registry is a large database which all systems use to store settings including everything from your desktop icons to your most recent emails, making it a vital part of every Windows system. By cleaning out this part of your PC with a “registry cleaner”, you’ll be able to repair any of the possible problems that may be contributing to the D3DRM.dll Error.
