How To Fix The OPXPapp.exe Error

OPXPapp.exe errors are extremely common & are a part of the Softex OmniPass application – a secure sign-in and and password management application. This program is a third-party application and is not an essential part of Windows… however, it often causes a myriad of different errors, which often show when your PC boots.

When you start your Windows computer you may receive this error message:

“OPXPApp.exe – Application Error

The Application Failed To Initialize Properly (Oxc0000142). Click On OK To Terminate Application”.

What Causes The OPXPapp.exe Error?

The OPXPapp.exe error is caused by a piece of software called ‘OmniPass’. This software may have been installed already on a pre installed computer, or can also be installed independently. The error usually occurs if:

  • There is a problem with the installation files on OmniPass.
  • Your system has been infected with a Malware program.

How To Fix The OPXPapp.exe Error

Step 1 -Reinstall The OmniPass Software

The OmniPass software is a third-party program which is initiated when you first boot up your PC. Unfortunately, it’s often the case that this program will either become damaged or corrupted, leading Windows to be unable to process the various files it requires to run. This is a big problem, but one which is extremely easy to fix – by reinstalling the software on your PC.

To Re-Install the OmniPass software, you should follow the steps below:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs
  2. Locate OmniPass
  3. Click “Remove” / “Uninstall” next to it
  4. Once the uninstaller has completed, restart your PC
  5. Install the OmniPass software again
  6. This should allow your computer to run without the error

Step 2 – Disable The OmniPass Service From Loading During The System Startup

If the OPXPapp.exe error occurs during system startup, then it likely that the service is configured to load when your system starts. If this is the case then you can fix the problem by disabling the service from loading at system startup. To do this follow these steps:

  • Open the Start menu, select Run, type msconfig and then press Enter.
  • Display the Startup tab.
  • Scroll down and look to see if there is an entry for OPXPapp.
  • If you find the entry, clear the box of the service, then click Apply.
  • Once you have done that you should restart your computer.

Step 3 – Clean Out Viruses From Your PC
