How To Fix Streamci.dll Errors

Streamci.dll is used in the default Windows audio driver which is installed on your PC to handle the sound & audio on your system. It is one of the most commonly used .dll (dynamic link library) files on Windows, which leads it to post a series of errors if it ever becomes damaged or corrupted. If you’re seeing errors with this file, it’s probably caused by your system being unable to process the contents it requires from it, which can be a result of you having the incorrect version of the file on your system…

The typical errors this file shows include:

  • “streamci.dll Not Found”
  • “This application failed to start because streamci.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”
  • “Cannot find streamci.dll”

What Causes streamci.dll Errors?

As with most dll errors, the streamci.dll error arises when the file itself is corrupt or damaged. This means Windows cannot read it properly and so results in an error message being shown. This could have happened because the file could have been replaced on the hard drive or a previous virus infection damaged the file. Since the file is used extensively on your system to power the default audio drivers of Windows, this error will often appear randomly & when you load up your system. To fix this problem, you need to first replace the damaged audio driver on your PC, then fix the damaged file that could be causing issues on your system:

How To Fix The Streamci.dll Error

Step 1 – Update / Repair / Reinstall any Audio Drivers

Since this file is used by Windows to control the use and installation of audio drivers, it would be logical to attempt to repair of any these files first. You can do this by following these steps:

For Windows 7

  1. Click “Start” > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound
  2. Under “Deivces and Printers” heading, click Device Manager
  3. In the Window that opens, look for the speaker icon next to “Sound, video and game controllers”
  4. Expand this option then right click on the erroneous hardware (should have a yellow exclaimation mark next to it)
  5. Click properties and go to “Driver“. Now click “Update Driver” and follow the on screen wizard

For Windows Vista and earlier

  1. Click on Start and then Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Performance and Maintenance link.Note: If you’re viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won’t see this link. Simple double-click on the System icon and proceed to Step 4.
  3. In the Performance and Maintenance window, click on the System icon near the bottom of the window.
  4. In the System Properties window, click on the Hardware tab.
  5. With the Hardware tab selected, click on the Device Manager button.
  6. Look for the speaker icon next to “Sound, video and game controllers“. Expand this option and Right Click > Properties on the faulty hardware (it will have a yellow exclamation mark next to it)
  7. Go to the “Driver” option and click “Update Driver” and follow the onscreen instructions.

If this does not fix the issue, proceed to Step 2:

Step 2 – Manually Replace streamci.dll On Your System

Replacing the streamci.dll file is probably the surest way to get your system running as smoothly as possible again. You can do this very easily by following the guide below:

1) Download from our server

2) Unzip the streamci.dll file onto your computer’s hard drive

3) Browse to c:\Windows\System32

4) Locate the current streamci.dll on your system

5) Rename the current streamci.dll to streamciBACKUP.dll

6) Copy & paste the new streamci.dll into C:\Windows\System32

7) Click Start > Run (Or search”run” on Vista & Win7)

8 ) Type “cmd” in the box that appears

9) Type “regsvr32 streamci.dll” on the black screen

10) Press enter

This will replace the streamci.dll file on your PC with a fresh, new copy that your PC should be able to access again. However, if this does not solve the error, you may wish to try using Steps 3 and 4 below:

Step 3 Clean Out Viruses

Antivirus programs are software tools which scan through your PC and remove any of the viruses or malware infections that are on your system. It’s often the case that viruses will infect various DLL files on your computer and then cause them to be unreadable to your PC. To ensure this is not happening on your computer, you should try using an antivirus program to scan through your system and remove any of the infections that cause all these errors. Step 4 – Clean Out The Registry

Another big cause of the streamci.dll errors is the registry database of Windows. The “registry” is a central database which stores all the settings, information and options for your computer, and is where Windows keeps many vital settings that it requires to run. It’s often the case that a lot of registry settings become damaged and corrupted, leading your PC to take longer to run, making it run slower and with a lot of errors.
