How to Save Images from Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Have you ever tried to figure out how to save an image from a Word document someone sent to you? It’s easier than you think even if it doesn’t look that at first. All you need to do is right-click on the picture and select “Save as picture…”, then save the image whenever you want to. But what if you have a document with lots of images that you want to extract in bulk? This simple trick will help.
To extract images from a Microsoft Office document (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx), you need to have Windows built-in extractor for .zip files or any other app that extracts .zip. The do the following:
- Open Windows Explorer (or File Explorer on newer Windows version) and find the file you want to extract the images from
- Select the file and press F2 to change the file extension to .zip, then press Enter. You will get a warning from Windows where you should click on “Yes” to proceed
- Now your MS Office file is an ordinary .zip file. Right-click on it and select “Extract All” to extract the content
- Choose the destination folder for the extracted content, otherwise a new folder with the same name as the file name will be created in the folder where the original file is located.
- To view the extracted files, go to the destination folder and open the subfolder called either “word” for Word documents, “xl” for spreadsheets and “ppt” for PowerPoint documents
- Double-click on the “media” folder and you’ll find all the images from the file there
