Steps To Fix Error 678 / 769 On Your PC

Error 678

Error 678 / Error 769 are two problems caused by a particular problem on your computer, which will prevent your PC from being able to correctly read all the settings & options which it requires to run properly. If you’re seeing this error on your system, it generally suggests that there is some sort of issue with the files / settings of your computer which are prohibiting your PC from being able to connect to the Internet properly. What Causes The 678 Error & 769 Error?

The errors you’re seeing will typically show in with these messages:

  • Error 769 “The specified destination is not reachable”
  • Error 678 “The remote computer did not respond”

The problems which normally cause these errors can include everything from the cable of your Internet being unplugged to your system having a large number of problems & errors with the files it needs to run. The way to fix the problem is to basically repair any of the issues that could actually cause it to show – which can be done using the steps outlined below.

How To Fix The 678 & 769 Errors On Your PC

Step 1 – Make Sure The Network Cable Of Your PC Is Plugged In

The first step is to ensure that your computer’s network cable is plugged in and able to read all the settings that your system requires to run the Internet. Whether you’re using a LAN connection, or Dial-Up connection, your PC needs to have a cable to enable it to send & receive all the Internet data it requires to run. You need to ensure that your system has the correct Internet cable attached.

Step 2 – Re-Install The Modem Drivers On Your PC

It’s essential that you are able to re-install the drivers which your modem / network adapter uses to run. To do this, you should follow the steps here:

  • Click “Start > Control Panel > Device Manager
  • Locate your network adapter drivers
  • Right-Click and select “Uninstall Driver”
  • Restart your PC
  • Allow the driver to re-install itself

This will basically refresh the settings the hardware requires to run, allowing your computer to properly connect to the Internet again. If this doesn’t work, then you should look to use the next step below:
