Steps To Repair The 0x00000051 Error

On a Windows XP system, when you attempt to start configuration manager, you may encounter a blue screen with error message 0x00000051. This can occur if the configuration manager cannot hive the data properly. Configuration manager is used to assess and update servers and client computers across a network. It is one of the most widely used pieces of network management software in the world.

What Causes The 0x00000051 Error?

If you encounter this error, it may appear on a blue screen as:

STOP 0x00000051 (0x0000000c, 0xc0000005, 0x????????, 0x????????)

Each ? denotes a variable, so could be any number.

This particular problem occurs when the configuration manager cannot “hive” the data properly. To “hive” data means to store data in a structure applicable to the registry. Using a “Registry Cleaner” could help clear this problem. Alternatively, Microsoft have released “hofixes” to deal with this problem. You can find them below

Step 2 – Clean Out The Registry

You should also clean out the ‘registry’ of your PC with a registry cleaner tool. The registry is a database which stores vital information, settings and options for your system, and is where Windows & all your software programs keep valuable data that your PC requires to run. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the biggest causes of errors because it’s continually being saved in the wrong way, making many of its settings corrupt and unreadable. In order to fix this problem, it’s advisable you use a registry cleaner program to fix any errors that could be causing problems inside this database. You can download these tools from the Internet, and you can also see our recommended cleaner below:
