What Is STLang.dll?

STLang.dll is a dynamic link library file used by Sigmatel software. Most notably, the “C-Media Audio Driver” normally uses this dll file, making it an essential part of the audio playback capabilities of your PC. The errors caused by this error can prevent your PC from playing music and any other form of audio, and will also show a lot of errors as well, including:

This error normally appears when you first start your computer and is sometimes followed by another error about the Sigmatel audio tray not working. As mentioned, this is very specific problem which makes it easier to fix. Here’s what you do:

How To Fix The STLang.dll Error

Step 1 – Delete The Driver

You can actually delete the driver that’s causing the problem and then allow Windows to implement it’s own default driver in its place. This can also be proceeded with the reinstallation of the Sigmatel driver at a later date.

1) Click Start & then right-click on My Computer

2) Click on properties and then on “Device Manager”

3) Scroll down the list and open up “Sound, Video and Game Controllers

4) In there, click on the audio component and, right click and select “Uninstall”

This will uninstall the driver from your system and will also make Windows think you do not have a sound device. This will soon be rectified when your computer recognizes the sound card and installs its own driver. This will give you sound, but if you utilize 5.1 surround sound, then you may wish to reinstall the Sigmatel driver.
